Through the centuries, people have waged terrible... arguments... debating the way water runs down the drain.
No, it's true.
This is usually blamed on the Coriolis Effect which is due to the rotation of the Earth. The Department of Condemnation is now issuing a condemnation against this effect for the countless lives lost in this debate. One camp fervently believes that water drains counter-clockwise in the northern (or "correct") hemisphere, and clockwise in the southern (or "upside down") hemisphere. The divisive issue came up this week on BBC Radio Sheffield, and very sensibly, they brought in none other than Marieke Evans to settle it once and for all. She is a particle physicist and fellow PhD student whose desk is next to mine. I'm that much closer to fame.

Doesn't she look like she's doing something physics-y? She does that all the time. She's pictured here listening to the radio the way we physicists do. |

Wow! That does look physics-y (physics-esque?) and if that is a radio pictured by her, that is one slick radio. Or maybe they call it wireless over there? Hope you got my Email, great site.
